HOW WE WORK Thank you for inquiring about Johnsrud DESIGN. Interior design is a very personal process, and we appreciate this opportunity to explore your unique situation and interpret your needs.
Johnsrud DESIGN is a full-service interior design firm that can assist with any size project. Whether you need a new window treatment or have a renovation in mind, we are happy to help. We can handle any aspect of the process from design and specification to installation. If it’s simply new flooring or a completely new kitchen or bathroom—together with a wide list of licensed tradespeople—we can deliver a room you’ll love for years to come.
The first step is the Consultation, which takes place in the client's home or business and consists of a question-and-answer session. Primarily you, the client, tell us what you want done and we’ll agree to a cap on the number of hours our team will dedicate to your design and sign contracts accordingly. We inquire about such things as budget, color, fabric, furniture styles and other preferences. We listen carefully and take lots of photographs of your existing rooms. Our intent is to create continuity in all areas of your environment—we want it to "flow." The initial meeting usually takes an hour and this is only the beginning of the design process. We’ll head back to our studio and begin the creative process of developing a scheme suited to your individual needs. Depending on the project, colors and fabrics are selected, furniture styles determined, and floor plans are developed.
The next step is the Presentation. You will see fabrics, finishes, colors, samples, furniture, window treatment designs—anything necessary for us to give you a clear mental picture of how we envision your new space. At this time, prices are presented for each specific item (sofa, chair, window treatment, wallpaper, etc.) that we recommend and minimum purchase amounts are discussed. Design is a process so we welcome your input. If you do not like something, perhaps a fabric or furniture style, we will adjust the plan to suit your preferences. Your satisfaction is our priority!
With the presentation of the detailed design scheme, Phase One is complete. You are encouraged to analyze our comments, ideas, options, prices, and suggestions. When you are ready to move into Phase Two, you give us permission to begin the Ordering and Production process and we accept deposits for those items. We’ll oversee the purchasing and delivery of all items you have authorized.
This brings us to the final step—the Installation—otherwise known as the fun part! Our licensed tradespeople will come in and perform their magic whether it is to paint, wallpaper, install molding or flooring. Then we’ll hang draperies, place furniture, and accessorize the environment. When you say, “Ann, I love it,” our job is done and final payment is received for items delivered and balance of design fees.
